The Back Office Conversion (BOC) feature of Deposit24 enables retailers and billers to convert payments received at the Point of Sale (POS) or manned bill payment locations to ACH entries in a controlled, back office environment.

BOC, approved on May 1, 2006 by NACHA’s voting membership, enables originators to accept checks at the point of purchase or at bill payment locations and convert those checks to ACH debits during back office processing. BOC also allows financial institutions to convert eligible checks received in image files to ACH debits.

BOC provides for a low-cost, electronic exchange option that further improves the overall business case for merchants to implement remote capture. BOC allows retailers to gain the advantages of ACH without material impact to the consumer checkout process.

Since BOC is based on ARC regulation, Creative Payment Solutions (CPS) is extending its ARC solution to include BOC and will be integrating the capabilities into its Deposit24 suite of products.

Features

• Facilitates check conversion at POS.
• Uses rules similar to ARC with check conversion in the back office, not at the front counter.
• Replaces POP, which requires customer authorization and scanning equipment at the counter.
• Converts consumer checks only. (NACHA Rules are beginning to allow commercial check conversions).
• Requires no written authorization from the customer, just posted notification.
• Permits users to opt-out, but opt-out only covers that one check.
