  1. When was BackOffice Conversion (BOC) approved?
    BOC was approved on May 1, 2006 by NACHA’s voting membership.

  2. BOC Market
    The BOC market opened in March 2007.

  3. How are deposits transmitted?
    Deposits are transmitted via high-speed scanners over low bandwidth.

  4. What rules does BOC use?
    BOC uses rules similar to ARC with check conversion in the back office, not at the front counter.

  5. Does BOC replace POP?
    BOC replaces POP, which requires customer authorization and scanning equipment at the counter.

  6. Can commercial checks be converted?
    Currently, only consumer checks can be converted. NACHA rules are beginning to allow commercial check conversion.

  7. Is written authorization from the customer required?
    No, only posted notification is required.

  8. Will BOC permit users to opt-out?
    Yes, but only for that one check.

  9. Is any equipment training required?
    No equipment training is required for tellers.

  10. How many imagers are needed?
    Only one imager is needed in the back office.

  11. Are the front and back image required?
    No, only the front image is required.
