  1. What is RCK?
Re-presented Check Entries, or RCK, is a method for merchants to collect on bad checks. RCK processing was introduced by NACHA in 1998 and gives banks the power to re-present NSF or uncollected consumer checks through the ACH network.

  2. How many times can a check be re-presented?
A total of three presentments are allowed. If a check was presented as paper only once, then CheckTrack can present that check twice more as an RCK entry. If the check has been presented twice as a paper deposit, then only one RCK entry is allowed.

  3. Is there a dollar limit on checks recovered?
Yes. The face amount of the check must be less than $2,500.

  4. Is there a time limit on checks that can be re-presented?
Yes. The check must be re-presented within 180 days from the date of the check.

  5. Will a consumer receive their paper checks in their monthly statements?
No. CheckTrack will keep the image and the paper check for reference. The consumer will see the re-presented check information on their statement with a description stating: "Payee Name, Redepcheck", and the amount of the check.

  6. What are the cost savings to the merchant?
CheckTrack can mean a significant cost savings for merchants. With CheckTrack, merchants avoid redeposit fees charged for resubmitting checks, as well as return fees on NSF checks returned a second time.

  7. Who can electronically debit consumers' accounts?
Merchants, billers, and financial institutions have the option of debiting consumers' accounts electronically for checks that have been returned for insufficient or uncollected funds. However, they must notify the consumer prior to receiving their check.

  8. Can a consumer decide how the NSF check is re-presented?
No. The merchant, biller, or financial institution can redeposit the paper check or re-present the check electronically.

  9. What is the fee charged to the consumer for a bad check?
Each state determines a maximum allowable service fee to be charged if a consumer writes a bad check to a merchant.
