At the Merchant's Site

• Merchant captures items with the check imaging hardware.
• The application attempts to automatically read the dollar amount of the item, using Courtesy Amount and Legal Amount Recognition (CAR/LAR) processing.
• The application inspects the check images to ensure high-quality image reproduction.
• Images that are not clear are displayed to the operator, and can either be adjusted or rescanned to correct the problem.
• Any items with amounts that can't be read are displayed to the operator for manual keying of the dollar amount.
• Once all amounts are entered, the application then provides an image assisted balancing screen to help the operator balance the total of the checks to the amount of the deposit.
• After the operator is satisfied that the deposit is correct, the deposit can then be transmitted via secure file transfer using Deposit24 File Utility.  

At CPS Operations

• CPS performs further quality and key validation functions, ensuring the integrity of the transaction through the process.
• All remittance items deemed eligible will be submitted through the ACH network.
• If necessary, CPS has the ability to create Image Replacement Documents (IRDs) for traditional check deposits and items ineligible for ACH. IRDs will be printed and sent through the paper process as it exists today.
• Images of the checks are stored in our Viewpointe Archive with access provided through a secure Web interface.
• CPS central processing site will also create a posting file to be imported into the merchant client's Accounts Receivable System.
